SHAFAQNA Türkiye – Faculty of Medicine, Marmara University Head of the Department of Immunology prof. Dr. Tunc Akkoç said: “The bottles that have been exposed to heat, heat and sun for a very long time should not be used. Chemicals, bacteria and microorganisms that we don’t need can get into our immune system from there. This lowers our immune system and we can become vulnerable to many diseases,” he said.
Warning about water bottles left in cars, prof. Dr. Tunc Akkoç said: “Plastic bottles that you forget in your car start to melt right away and the chemicals they contain get into the water right away.”
“PLASTIC UNDER SUNLIGHT CAN DISSOLVE AND RELEASE WATER”
When the heat wave reached record levels, water consumption increased. Experts, on the other hand, are looking at plastic water bottles sold in corks, left in vehicles and exposed to the sun.

Faculty of Medicine, Marmara University Head of the Department of Immunology prof. Dr. Tunc Akkoç said: “Currently, one of the most indispensable sources of drinking water is the bottle, and everyone uses it at home. Bottled water can pose certain health risks along with the plastic it contains and the environment, production conditions, storage conditions and conditions of use in the home. Especially since they are plastic, the environment they are in and exposure to sunlight can cause these plastics to dissolve and mix with water. If these water bottles are left outside for a long time, these microplastics can dissolve back into the water when heated. Of course, it also contains some chemicals. There are several ways to understand this. We may not realize this while drinking, but changes in taste, color and smell can occur in those who are in the sun for very long periods of time. The consumer can easily understand this,” he said.

“OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WEAK AND WE ARE OPEN TO MANY DISEASES”
Akkoç said: “You should not use bottles that have been exposed to heat, heat and sun for a long time, this is important. Whatever we use, along with mixing these chemicals with water as we consume it, can cause deterioration of the epithelial structure we call “intact” in our intestinal system. Chemicals, bacteria and microorganisms that we don’t need can get into our immune system from there. This lowers our immune system and we can become vulnerable to many diseases,” he said.

“PLASTIC BOTTLES MUST BE USED ONCE”
Sharing his comment about the timing of the use of plastic bottles and bottles, Prof. Dr. Tunc Akkoç said, “After using bottled water, the bottles are constantly changing. But it can not be used at home for more than a week and a half. On the other hand, we fill up these little water bottles instead of throwing them away. If you pay attention, for example, think that you forgot it in the car, it immediately begins to melt and the chemical in it immediately passes. In my opinion, it is enough to use these bottles once. It can be used a maximum of 2 times to make cold water, but it will definitely make a difference.”

“GLASS BOTTLES ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL IN THIS”
Noting that bottles stored outdoors in direct sunlight are stored for a long time, Akkoç said: “Water cannot be kept outdoors, you know how hot the air temperature is right now. There must be chemicals in there. It may not pass in 1-2 hours, but I’m talking about a longer effect. I mean it stays for days. To do this, the bottles can be put on and stored in protective cases. Or you can prefer glass bottles, glass bottles are very successful in this regard.”
