EU reserves vaccine production capacity for the future

SHAFAQNA Türkiye – The EU Commission announced that it has signed contracts with various vaccine manufacturers to maintain vaccine production capacity.

The statement said that a network has been established with companies that can quickly produce vaccines that will be needed in emergencies, and that this network includes manufacturers of mRNA, vectors and protein vaccines Pfizer, Bilthoven Biologicals and Laboratorios Hipra.

The statement said that these companies have an obligation to protect facilities, personnel and supply chains for the production of 325 million doses of vaccine per year within the EU.

According to the statement, the companies will start producing vaccines at the request of the EU Commission, and the EU will allocate 160 million euros per year to these manufacturers.

The statement indicated that the reserved doses would be produced in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain.
