ANKARA (IGFA) –President Erdogan takes part in the meeting of heads of state and government of the NATO-Ukraine Commission
According to the Communications Authority, President Erdogan came to the hall where he will hold a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
President Erdogan spoke for some time with US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also shook hands after entering the hall and talked to President Erdogan, Biden and Stoltenberg.
Zelensky, seated side by side with President Erdogan during the meeting, was applauded by other heads of state and government before the meeting.
NATO-UKRAINE COUNCIL MEETS FOR THE FIRST TIME
The NATO-Ukraine Council, created to take relations between NATO and Ukraine to a new level, has met for the first time in its history.
The first meeting of the Council was held at the level of heads of state and government at the NATO summit in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who chaired the meeting, stressed in his opening remarks that Ukraine stands side by side with its NATO allies as “equals” in the Council.
Reaffirming NATO’s support for Ukraine, Stoltenberg said: “Your courage inspires us. We must continue our support to allow Ukraine to liberate its territory and deter future Russian aggression.” used the phrase.
