Regarding the earthquake that shook Turkey with two major earthquakes in Kahramanmaras on February 6, 2023, Erdogan said: “We have lost more than 50,000 lives as a result of these earthquakes. In 11 provinces affected by the earthquake, 311,000 buildings with 872,000 independent departments fell into disrepair. Jobs, agricultural lands, enterprises, factories were damaged. “14 million of our people personally experienced the negative effects of the earthquake,” he said.

DELIVERY OF HOUSING WILL BEGIN IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER

Recalling that the construction of permanent housing has begun in areas not prone to earthquakes, Erdogan said: “We will gradually hand over finished houses in October and November.”

“We will complete the construction of 319,000 residential buildings in the first year and hand them over to the beneficiaries,” Erdogan said, adding: “In total, we aim to build 650,000 residential buildings.”
