SAFAKNA TURKEY – The revaluation rate used to determine certain taxes, fees and penalties has been determined. For 2023, this figure is calculated as 122.9 percent. With the determination of the revaluation rate, increases were determined for many items from the transport tax (MTV) to traffic police fines, from passport fees to fees for phones imported from abroad.

HOW MUCH WILL MTV PAY IN 2023?
With the introduction of the revaluation rate in 2022, the tax on a car with a volume of less than 1,300 cylinders and an age of 1 to 3 years will increase from 1,313 liras to 2,927 liras.
IT CAN REDUCE UP TO 80 PERCENT
Under Section 10 of the MTV Act, the president can lower the revaluation rate to 80 percent. The revaluation rate was finalized at 23.73 percent in 2019, applied at 15.9 percent at MTV, formalized at 22.58 percent for 2020 and applied at 12 percent at MTV. For 2022, the rate was finally set at 36.2 percent, and the rate was reduced to 25 percent.

If a revaluation rate applies in 2023, the following prices will apply to passport fees.
Passport fee for up to 6 months is from 309.40 to 689.75 lira,
The cost of a passport with a validity period of 1 year is from 452.30 lira to 1008.31 lira,
2-year passport fee from 738.40 lira to 1646.12 lira,
passport fee for 3 years from 1049 lira to 2337.95 lira,
The passport fee for a period of 4 to 10 years will increase from 1,478.30 lira to 3,295.57 lira.
HOW MUCH WILL THE PROPERTY TAX BE INCREASED?
Property tax, which has increased by half the revaluation rate, is expected to increase by about 61.5 percent next year.
The tax is calculated by the municipalities on the value of the house. For example, a house with a tax value of 1 million will be valued at 1,615,000 Turkish Lira, with an increase of 61.5 percent. The resulting value will then be calculated according to the ratios shown in the table below.
THE COST OF TRANSPORTING A PHONE FROM ABROAD WILL INCREASE
The fee for phones brought with passengers from abroad will increase from 2,732.40 Turkish liras to 6,91.33 Turkish liras.
DRIVER’S LICENSE FEES
Class A driving license fees will increase from TL 370.40 to TL 825.73, and Class B driving license fees used by car drivers will increase from TL 1,116.90 to TL 2,489.90.
PRESIDENT MAY USE ERDOGAN’S POWER
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has the right to increase and decrease the revaluation rate of taxes and fees by 50 percent in accordance with the Tax Procedure Law. Previously, President Erdogan used these powers to slow down MTV’s growth.
According to the latest information coming from the lobby, President Erdogan is expected to cut the rate again. The new regulation to be prepared is expected to enter into force before the new year, including it in the list of proposals included in the agenda of the Parliament.
